Announcing 3rd Annual Water’s Edge Festival February 25 – 27, 2011

December 14, 2010 | Write a Comment

COQUITLAM, BC – Producers of the Water’s Edge Festival are extremely delighted to announce the return of the festival as part of the BC Spirit Festivals, a new initiative, funded by the provincial government which will see celebrations taking place all over the province in February, 2011.

Mark your calendars! Water’s Edge takes place February 25 – 27, 2011 at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam. Originally a festival of music, the new and expanded festival will embrace many areas of the Arts―music, dance, visual arts and design.

Water’s Edge Artistic Director, Diana Clark can’t contain her excitement. “We are grateful to have this opportunity in taking the lead in presenting a contemporary arts festival in this community and continue the celebration that began in 2009. We also thank our new partner, ArtsConnect. Without their support and dedication this event would not be taking place.”

ArtsConnect has joined forces with founding producers, Coastal Sound Music Academy and Evergreen Cultural Centre in order to ensure the festival keeps its local flavour.

Jon-Paul Walden, Evergreen’s Executive Director adds, “We are extremely excited to have the Water’s Edge Festival return for another year in the legacy of the Olympic Games spirit. This festival will truly be representative of many artistic media and the broad range of arts events will be accessible for all the community.”

The signature Water’s Edge event is international jazz singer Dee Daniels in concert Sunday, February 27 at 2pm. Daniels is a unique talent who transcends musical borders when she brings her jazz styling, infused with gospel and blues flavoring, to the stage.

Rounding out the main ticketed events is the day-long Children’s Choir Workshop & Day of Singing hosted by Coastal Sound on February 25, Ballet Kelowna’s full length program entitled “Action Consequences” on February 26 and PechaKuchaNight Coquitlam on February 27.

Water’s Edge wouldn’t be the same without the Great Canadian Guitar Jam, the drum circle, gospel workshop and the popular singer/songwriter’s café. New additions include a hip-hop sampler workshop, power art classes and a group showing of artworks by teachers from School District 43 in the Art Gallery. All FREE!

Join in and come celebrate the unique spirit of this community. Come get your feet wet, dive in, play on… Water’s Edge Festival is where the ARTS meet you. For a full schedule of events, event times and details visit www.watersedgemusic.ca. Follow us on Twitter: @WatersEdgeFest.
