Ballet Kelowna returns to the Evergreen stage with the premiere of Canadian choreographer Gioconda Barbuto’s much anticipated newly commissioned ballet set to the music of Montreal composer Michael Oesterle. Gioconda’s choreography is well-known for her passion, intensity and lyrical physicality. Other works in the program include, ”Lignes et Pointes” a masterful interpretation of the music of French Canadian composer Pierre Mercure by Brian Macdonald (Montreal) and Brydon Paige (Duncan, BC).   “In Stride” (1999) set to the pulsating music of Glenn Branca is a light-hearted, effervescent and a joyful physical romp through the demands of contemporary choreographic vocabulary.  Playfully energetic  and inno-classically inspired.

Rounding out the program is Artistic Director David LaHay’s engaging “Dvorak Dances” (2006), set to a selection of Czech composer Antonin Dvorak’s popular Slavonic Dances.
