Welcome to Water’s Edge 2010

It is a sense of playful exploration and discovery that inspires Water’s Edge Festival, a Cultural Olympiad 2010 presentation. At the exquisite Evergreen Cultural Centre, with its intimate theatre and stunning lakeside setting, Water’s Edge is a place to discover, to explore and to be surprised.
We are thrilled to welcome acclaimed vocal ensembles Elektra Women’s Choir and musica intima to the festival. Coastal Sound Music Academy once again plays a large part in the festival, commissioning a new major work by JUNO award winning trumpeter/ composer/ producer Brad Turner that will be premiered at Water’s Edge!
We’ve lined up top-notch professional music and art educators to encourage participation in new ways: Bring a guitar and be part of the “All Canadian Guitar Jam”, learn how to sing Gospel with Brian Tate, create with clay, make a lantern, be part of the drum circle and much, much more! Youngsters will enjoy Songplay music sessions with Coastal Sound Music instructors Jodi Proznick and Angie Lundin, or our very own “instrument petting zoo”.
With a variety of programming, there is bound to be some new music, new artists and new musical genres for everyone to discover. Check the schedule and please explore our website where you will find the latest updates. Many events welcome drop-ins and beginners, so please feel invited to explore some new things—to “dip your feet in”—at Water’s Edge.
The outstanding events at Water’s Edge are the result of a co-production between Coastal Sound Music Academy and Evergreen Cultural Centre along with the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad. Support from the BC Arts Council and City of Coquitlam Capital Fund has made Water’s Edge possible.
Our team of Water’s Edge producers from Coastal Sound Music Academy and Evergreen Cultural Centre is looking forward to meeting YOU at Water’s Edge!

Please bring your own guitar, capo and any other necessary guitar paraphernalia and come jam along with us on the tunes you know, the ones you’re leaning to play, and hang out and sing along on the others.
Songs have been chosen based on their playability and singability by large groups, including Heart of Gold, Neil Young, Brian Wilson, Bare Naked Ladies, Five Days in May, Blue Rodeo, Big Yellow Taxi, Joni Mitchell, Ice Cream, Sarah McLaughlin, Hallelujah, Leonard Cohen and others…
